The Arlington Academy of Hope (AAH), founded in 2004 in the United States and in Uganda by John and Joyce Wanda, is a non-profit organization that operates in Bududa, Namisindwa and Manafwa districts in Eastern Uganda. The AAH mission is to help transform rural communities via education, health care, and community development.
To achieve these goals, we have built Arlington Junior School, a model primary school in Bududa district that educates 450 students; we work with 26 public schools across Eastern Uganda; we provide scholarships to 360 students at secondary school, and another 160 students in vocational schools or universities.
We also operate two health clinics which treat roughly 30,000 patients annually; and we support local community development initiatives such as street solar lighting for Kikholo town, cementing floors in homes better housing, and microfinance programs for women. These efforts have improved the quality of life in poor villages in Uganda and are changing them into self-sustaining communities.
